Scroll Mainnet Launch Ignites Layer2 Ecosystem Co-founder Haichen Reveals Development Strategy

Scroll co-founder Haichen: The launch of the Mainnet is a new beginning, and the focus of the ecosystem is shifting towards real-world applications.

Scroll, as an open-source Layer 2 solution led by Asian entrepreneurs, has always attracted significant attention from the community. After two years of intensive development and one year of testing, Scroll produced its genesis block on October 10, 2023, and officially launched its Mainnet on October 17.

As of October 27, the total locked value on the Scroll chain has exceeded $19.3 million. The number of Mainnet wallet addresses has surpassed 147,000, with a total of over 860,000 verified transactions. From October 20 to 26, the average daily transaction count was nearly 80,000, with the highest single-day transaction volume being 101,375 on October 22.

Recently, Scroll held the ETH Hong Kong event at Cyberport in Hong Kong, which is the first event hosted by the Ethereum community in Hong Kong. During the event, Scroll co-founder Haichen Shen was interviewed and shared the development history and future plans of Scroll.

Exclusive Interview with Scroll Co-founder Haichen: The Mainnet Launch is a New Beginning, with a Greater Focus on Real-World Applications

Haichen stated that the launch of the Mainnet is an important milestone for Scroll and a new starting point. The team will continue to roll out more features, enhance security, reduce costs, and provide developers with more tools to support the development of innovative applications.

Regarding the reasons for choosing the zkEVM solution, Haichen explained that zk technology can provide users with faster and stronger security guarantees. At the same time, Scroll focuses on EVM equivalence, allowing developers to directly port development toolkits from Ethereum to Layer 2 without modification, thereby reducing development difficulty and potential risks.

In terms of technical details, Scroll designs zero-knowledge proof circuits in a way that is closest to EVM and supports the most precompiled contracts. The sorter is deployed based on Go-Ethereum, ensuring high compatibility with Ethereum's native API.

When it comes to ecological development, Haichen stated that Scroll will first focus on infrastructure services such as RPC, indexing, cross-chain bridges, and oracles. After that, there will be a wave of DeFi application deployments. In the long term, Scroll is committed to building an open and neutral platform, while also focusing on supporting real-world applications, such as stablecoin payments and AA wallet projects, as well as public goods that benefit the entire ecosystem.

Regarding the competition in the Layer 2 space, Haichen believes it is still in its early stages. In the future, there is a need to further enhance the level of decentralization, improve security, and attract more developers to create innovative applications. He emphasized that the Layer 2 market is not a zero-sum game, but a field with tremendous expansion potential.

Don't look at other data, just look at the 19.3 million Lock-up Position, come on, just go to an exchange and it will be gone.
