China raises tariffs on US goods to 125%, calling on the US to stop unilateral bullying.
The White House announced this morning that after raising tariffs on China by 145%, the Chinese Ministry of Finance has also launched countermeasures, increasing tariffs on American goods from the original 84% to 125%. The Chinese government emphasized that if the United States continues to escalate, China will turn a blind eye, further stating that American products can no longer establish a foothold in the Chinese market.
China announced countermeasures, raising tariffs on American goods from 84% to 125%.
The Ministry of Finance of China stated that starting from April 11, the import tariffs on all goods from the United States will be raised from 84% to 125%. It also stated that this is already the limit they can bear; if the United States continues to raise tariffs, China will no longer respond and will directly ignore it.
The image shows that the additional tariffs imposed by both the US and China are 145% and 125%, respectively. China's strong stance means that American goods can no longer establish a foothold in the Chinese market.
China pointed out in a statement that under such high tariff conditions, American goods have lost their market competitiveness. It further believes that both sides have exceeded rationality, and if the United States continues to escalate, China will not accompany it, as it has become meaningless economically.
Market reaction: US stock futures drop, Hong Kong stocks shrink, and the US dollar weakens.
According to Bloomberg, China's recent countermeasures have immediately triggered market fluctuations:
S&P 500 futures fell further
The Hong Kong Stock Exchange's Hang Seng China Enterprises Index futures retraced earlier gains.
The US dollar index fell, with a daily decline of more than 1%.
Reflects the market's anxiety over the deterioration of US-China relations and the global trade outlook, as well as concerns about rising corporate costs and potential disruptions to the supply chain.
The Chinese Ministry of Commerce warns the United States, saying it only plays digital games.
The Chinese Ministry of Commerce also slammed the United States: "The U.S. has repeatedly abused high tariffs, which is nothing but a game of numbers, making no economic sense and has become a joke."
It also pointed out that the United States' tariff policy is not based on economic logic, but rather political manipulation, seemingly becoming a tool of coercion for unilateral bullying.
