💬 "Telegram has always complied with the laws of the European Union."
📱 The founder of Telegram, Pavel Durov, once again referred from his personal channel to the judicial conflict that had him detained in France.
📰 "Yesterday, a French newspaper claimed that my arrest in France last summer "finally" forced Telegram to comply with European rules. This is false. Telegram has always complied with EU laws."
👮 ♂️ "After last August, it was the French police who finally started complying with European regulations, sending their requests to Telegram in the legal way described by the EU's Digital Services Act. As a result, French courts have been able to receive IP addresses of criminal suspects from Telegram," Durov reported.
🌐 According to Durov, "Information about this legal form could be obtained on our apps, long before my arrest in France. Why the French courts and police had ignored this process clearly defined by EU law remains a mystery to us, but it is unfair to say that Telegram somehow ignored European rules. Paradoxically, it was the French law enforcement that, for some reason, had ignored them."
🇫🇷 "I love France and I respect its police, so I didn't want to embarrass anyone by pointing this out. But I can't ignore such obvious misinformation being spread about Telegram."
