The founder of NEO Pets creates the Web3 game Dragginz, combining pet raising and an open world.
The Founding Couple of "Nio Pet" Creates Web3 Game Dragginz
"Neo Pets" is a web game that once had 140 million players. Now, the game's founders Adam Powell and Donna Williams are developing a blockchain game called Dragginz.
Dragginz is described as "Neopets meets Minecraft," combining pet-raising and open-world elements. The game is built on the Internet Computer blockchain, aiming to provide players with a seamless experience, where they may not even notice the existence of the blockchain.
Adam and Donna began considering building games in Web3 back in 2014. They chose Internet Computer as the underlying technology, mainly due to its efficiency, speed, and scalability advantages. In particular, the reverse Gas model allows ordinary players to enjoy games without needing to understand Gas fees.
Dragginz will adopt the SNS-1 token as its governance token and will be renamed to DKP(Draggin Karma Points). Holders will be able to vote on the game development roadmap and other aspects. The game will be completely free, with no ads or sponsorships; the only reason to purchase tokens is the desire to participate in the game's development.
In terms of token economics, the total supply of DKP will be adjusted to 1 billion, without inflation or deflation mechanisms. Staking DKP has governance incentives, but it is not token rewards, rather in-game rewards. The development team retains 52% of the voting rights to maintain control over the game's content.
Dragginz is expected to launch in the second half of 2024 or early 2025. The development team aims to create excellent game content to attract mainstream players, rather than relying on tokens or NFTs for quick profits. They believe that with the emergence of high-quality blockchain games, Web3 gaming will become a natural trend.
