This time, Midjourney 5.2 has brought new surprises to users!

The famous AI painting artifact Midjourney has shocked users again. After the release of version 5.1 last month, it quickly updated version 5.2.

This update includes improved aesthetics, coherence generation, text understanding, and provides prompt word analysis, high-variation mode, and high-resolution mode. One of the most exciting is the new "Zoom out" function, through 1.5 times, 2 times and custom zoom, the camera is pulled out and all side details are filled to achieve the effect of reconstructing the image.

How will these additions affect the Midjourney Vincent diagram? Let's take a look at them one by one.

First, focus on the "Zoom Out" function. Similar to Adobe's generative filling tool, the zoom function allows users to expand the original image and expand to a larger range while retaining the details of the original image.

The Midjourney 5.2 version provides three zoom options, which are 1.5 times, 2 times and custom zoom between "1.0 and 2.0". The left image below is the original image, and the right image is the 2x zoomed image.

Seeing that the "Zoom Out" function is so magical, netizens couldn't bear to try it out and posted the images they generated.

If the effect of two pictures is not shocking enough, let’s get four pictures.

Twitter user @op7418 even said that zoomout will be the big move of MJ5.2, and using it to make short videos should be invincible. The following is a short video made after using zoomout to continuously generate multiple pictures.

The user's idea of using zoomout to make videos coincides with many other users. The picture in the following video can not only be zoomed out, but also zoomed in.

Other functions

Midjourney also provides a "Make Square" function to turn a rectangular image with an aspect ratio of 16:9 into a square image. As shown below.

The variation mode (iation Mode) function allows users to polish the subtle visual differences of the output image, and there are two optional high/low variation modes.

The low-variation mode is shown on the left and the high-variation mode is on the right.

Another new feature that deserves attention is "shorten command", which allows users to analyze the text to understand which words will not have any effect on the output image, and which words are the key to determining the effect of the output image.

Finally, there is the stylize command. We know that Midjourney is trained to create images with artistic sparkle and rich visual beauty, which is one of the differences between it and Stable Diffusion and the like.

For image stylization this time, users can set the stylize parameter at the end, and the supported range is 0-1000. The stylization function is not used on the left side of the picture below, and the stylization function is used on the right side of the picture. The effects of the two are obvious.
