Restaking protocol EigenLayer will launch its own cryptocurrency in an airdrop next month.
According to the Eigen Foundation, the EIGEN token will have a total supply of 1.67 billion, of which 45% will be allocated to the EigenLayer community**. Of this, 15% is reserved for "stakedrops", future initiatives, and the development of the ecosystem.
In the first season of what the team calls "stakedrops," 5% of the token supply will be given to users who have met the required staking criteria by March 15. Users will be able to claim their share of EIGENs for 120 days as of May 10.
29.5% of the tokens will be distributed to investors, while 25.5% will be distributed to people who contributed to the protocol in its early stages.
Crypto money community has long predicted that EigenLayer might launch an airdrop, and in order to participate in it, they have been depositing into the protocol even before its launch a few weeks ago.
EigenLayer is one of the most popular restaking projects today. Thanks to these protocols, users can continue to use the ETH they stake on the Ethereum blockchain in different protocols.
