On August 12, Gate Charity, the global non-profit philanthropic organization founded by Gate.io, sponsored World Cleanup Day Jambi (WCD Jambi) to promote environmental stewardship and support local communities in and around Jambi, Indonesia.
World Cleanup Day is a global environmental movement that spans 191 countries to raise awareness for the mismanaged waste crisis and encourage people to clean up trash. WCD Jambi is a regional component of WCD Indonesia, which was started by “Let’s Do It! Indonesia”, an organization whose international counterpart is accredited by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).
WCD Jambi held the “Waste Collection & Sorting Action” event on August 12. Gate Charity sponsored the event, providing more than 150 volunteers with equipment and meals. These volunteers came from various backgrounds and took to their local communities to seek out, collect, and sort trash and debris. This event was part of WCD Jambi’s First Road Show and leads up to the main World Cleanup Day Indonesia event on August 17, coinciding with Indonesian Independence Day.
Gate Charity sponsored the event to promote environmental awareness and reduce humanity’s impact on nature. This is part of their commitment to safeguard natural ecos worldwide. They have previously organized beach cleanup events in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, and launched the “Protect The Ocean” and “Art in Bénin” NFT collections. These initiatives utilized Gate Charity’s blockchain fundraising model and support from local artists to gather funds for environmental causes.
