Sonic raised 12 million yuan in financing to build the first Solana L2 designed for gaming.
Solana's atomized SVM Layer2 Sonic announced the completion of a $12 million Series A financing, led by Bitkraft, with participation from Galaxy Interactive, Big Brain Holdings, Matt Sorg (Solana founding team), Nom (Bonk), and other institutions and individuals.
This round of financing will be used to promote the product upgrade and ecological expansion of Sonic. As the first SVM L2 that realizes atomic interoperability with Solana, Sonic can quickly synchronize its Layer2 network with the Solana mainnet. Developers can share the mainnet's program, state, and data without redeploying contracts. In addition, Sonic integrates infrastructure for Solana game development and deployment, such as sandbox environments, customizable game development modules, and scalable data types. Combined with Solana's Virtual Machine (SVM) parallel execution method and the characteristics of the localized transaction fee market, Sonic provides faster transaction speed, lower and more stable transaction fees for on-chain game players, aiming to achieve a faster and smoother on-chain gaming experience.
Sonic is committed to leading more developers to join the Solana gaming ecosystem by launching incubation funds and acceleration plans to help them become familiar with Sonic SVM (Solana Virtual Machine) and the HyperGrid expansion framework. HyperGrid aims to enable developers to seamlessly deploy new game engines and virtual machines in the Solana environment. It serves as a grid deployment toolkit for launching new SVM environments, creating separate spaces for each new game on the Solana network.
Solana is currently the most user-friendly public chain for users and individual developers, thanks to its low threshold and the explosive growth of Meme. However, the development of the Solana gaming ecosystem has not yet achieved success commensurate with its scale, which is exactly the problem that Sonic hopes to solve through technological innovation. With Sonic, developers can deploy their own exclusive SVM chain with just one click, thereby promoting more game narratives to land on Solana.
Sonic CEO Chris Zhu said, 'In the past two years, we have collaborated with hundreds of Web3 games to help them achieve monetization and asset issuance. We value Solana greatly because it provides comprehensive tools and frameworks for games. We believe that Sonic SVM will be the key to catalyzing the explosion of the Solana gaming ecosystem. With our support, thousands of games will be able to land and enter the public eye.'
Bitkraft partner Jens Hilgers said: 'The Mirror World team has shown incredible resilience, adaptability, and creativity. Sonic SVM and HyperGrid will lead the leap of Solana and the entire gaming ecosystem. We firmly believe that as Solana continues to attract market attention, this will become the future paradigm of Web3 games.'
Sonic is built by Mirror World Labs, a game company that has been deeply involved in the Solana ecosystem for a long time. Following the $4 million seed round financing in early 2022, this Series A financing will bring its total financing to $16 million. Mirror World Labs focuses on developing Solana game infrastructure, covering the entire lifecycle of games, as well as a full range of technical solutions for game development.
About Sonic
Sonic is Solana's first atomic SVM L2, aimed at achieving the sovereign game economy settled on Solana. Sonic is powered by the core technology HyperGrid developed by Mirror World, which gridifies Solana, allowing developers to deploy custom Sonic Solana Virtual Machines (SVM) with significant scaling advantages.
